MasonicWiki:About

The Masonic Wiki is a collaborative hub for Masonic knowledge, created in September 2017 by a Master Mason as a place where people could share, preserve, and expand information about Freemasonry. Its purpose is to make Masonic history, symbolism, organizations, traditions, and practices easier to discover and understand.
The project follows in the tradition of earlier reference works such as Albert Mackey’s Encyclopedia of Freemasonry, while taking advantage of the collaborative and continually updated nature of a wiki. Rather than presenting a single author’s interpretation, The Masonic Wiki allows contributors to build a broader body of knowledge drawn from many jurisdictions, traditions, and areas of research.
Its mission is to archive information about Freemasonry, its people, and its Lodges so that valuable local and historical knowledge is not lost to the Masons of tomorrow. This includes documenting notable individuals, Lodge histories, Masonic buildings, organizations, symbols, customs, events, and records that may otherwise disappear as memories fade or physical archives are lost.
The Masonic Wiki is intended to serve Freemasons, researchers, historians, and members of the public alike. By collecting reliable information in one accessible place, it seeks to support education, encourage thoughtful research, and preserve the diverse heritage of the Craft for future generations.
